Every year we pass out pamphlets on Breast Cancer Awareness
to women and men on
Halloween. The kids paint and bedazzled plastic pumpkins PINK in honor of Cancer
Awareness Month.
Even though men do not have breasts like women, they do have a small amount of breast tissue. Men can
get the same types of breast cancers as women do. According to the American Cancer
Society, an estimated 2,300 cases of breast cancer
will be diagnosed in men in 2010.
The major problem is that breast cancer in men is often diagnosed later than breast cancer in women. This may be because
men are less likely to be suspicious of an abnormality in that area. Allowing tumors to spread more quickly to the surrounding
tissues.
